Needle-Felted Black or White Swan Workshop with Ann Marie Brown
Needle-felting uses special needles to “knit” together scraps of wool. By stabbing the wool scraps, they join together and can be sculpted with the needles. Body parts can be attached by stabbing them into the main body. More advanced structures can be created using wire or pipe cleaner armatures.
In this class, make a black or white swan, approximately the size of your hand, consisting of black or white wool and black or white curly locks. Make a simple armature with pipe cleaners, then cover it with wool. Learn about the tools used to make the sculpture, techniques and tips. This is a beginner-level workshop. All the materials to make the swan are provided. Min. students 3, Max. 4. Cost is $45 for A3L members, $55 non-members. Contact Arrowhead Gallery, 828-668-1100 for more information or to register.
