A weekend spent in McDowell County in the Blue Ridge Mountains can be so many things - quality family time, the hiker’s dream, and the anglers’ paradise, so maybe an immersive Renaissance Faire experience is not what you would expect? Which is exactly why you should make your plans now to attend the WNC Renaissance Faire 2026 on the weekend of September 4th-6th.
While the event grounds at Fort Tater in Nebo serve as an area rodeo venue, this fall it’s transformed into a handbuilt and magical landscape for the Renaissance event.

As with any authentic medieval fair, the WNC Renaissance Faire is an outdoor event recreating a living history with costumed fair-goers, wandering minstrels, music across multiple stages throughout the weekend, and the general merriment one would expect while exploring a new place set in an olden time.
Top-notch entertainment is planned for the entire weekend, including a Royal Open Archery Tournament hosted by Robinhood and the Merry Band. Follow along with the weekend’s entertainment schedule or simply take in the fantastical amusements as you find them… or as they find you. You never know when you may become part of the spectacle!
Giant turkey legs and goblets of mead most definitely will be on hand while you spend time shopping the marketplace. Why go home when you can stay with the knights? On-site camping is available throughout the weekend for those who want to make a full weekend of the festivities. This is a festival not soon forgotten.
