The Mountain Gateway Museum & Heritage Center will host its 39th Annual Pioneer Day on Friday, July 3, 2026, on its grounds at the intersection of Catawba Avenue and Water Street, just north of I-40 Exit 73, in Old Fort, NC. The event will be held—rain or shine—from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It will feature traditional Appalachian crafts, live music, food trucks, farm demonstrations, WNC authors, children’s games, and much more. It will also coincide with the state’s “America 250 NC” celebration on the July 4th weekend.
Come join us at our first Pioneer Day since Hurricane Helene. As always, admission is free!
Our museum explores and celebrates the cultural history of western North Carolina, an area spanning 38 counties from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Piedmont.
