Three Sisters is named for our own three daughters. As a nod to local cheese history, our name also ties us to family cheese makers, Susan and Terry English (who also have three daughters). Susan was happy to have us keep the original name of "English Farm Cheese", but we ultimately decided we would change it to reflect the "passing of the torch" and keeping cheesemaking a local family tradition.
Learning all we could from English Farmstead cheeses, we've made all of the locally beloved signature cheeses (plain and flavored curds, Buttercup, Apple Blossom Gouda, Ashford Cheddar, Ashford Cheddar Reserve, and Fromage Blanc/spreads). These are our focus for the time being, but we have plans to expand offerings as we build up a backstock of the items that need to be aged and just generally grow more confident in the cheesemaking process.
We're on the WNC Cheese Trail! You can learn more about the WNC Cheese Trail here. They do have rack cards they can share with you, so I would just email them or reach out on social media (they have FB and Insta accounts). They also hold an annual cheese fest (it was last weekend) at Oak & Grist in Black Mountain. We took part and it was a lot of fun (and very delicious).
