When the sun goes down on the mountains, the fun doesn’t end in Little Switzerland, NC, on Saturday evenings in July and August. For more than 80 years, this community has gathered on Saturday nights to enjoy cake walks, broom dances, and even a little clogging, at the Square Dance at Geneva Hall. The fun begins at 8 p.m. and is wholesome enough for the whole family to enjoy. Don't worry if you've never square danced before. The evening begins with a quick lesson, so newcomers can learn the basic calls and join the fun with confidence.Geneva Hall is literal steps away from the beautiful Switzerland Inn, right off the Blue Ridge Parkway at Milepost 334.

Make a whole Saturday of exploring this quaint mountain village with all of its charms and built-in adventure. Start the morning with Yoga on the Green at the Switzerland Inn with Mineral City Yoga, then coffee at Little Switzerland Books and Beans, a three-story book and coffee shop. Grab some snacks for fuel at the Switzerland General Store before heading a few minutes down the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Museum of North Carolina Minerals, where you can explore exhibits about the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail before stretching your legs on a section of the historic route itself.

Back at the Switzerland Inn, take time to relax with their amazing mountain views and crisp mountain breezes. The Shops at Switzerland Inn are mere steps away, where the family can enjoy ice cream, arts and crafts, gorgeous textiles and handmade gifts to take home for lasting memories.
Before heading to the Square Dance, The Chalet at the Switzerland Inn can make sure you’re well-fed for the evening’s festivities. For a libation to loosen the limbs before the dancing begins, the Fowl Play Pub & Taproom is conveniently next door.
